Before and After
The Process in Pictures
The first step is cleaning the pavers to remove surface dirt and grim. Our process can also remove food stains, paint, iron, oil, tire marks, and efflorescence. The cleaning process will reveal colors in your pavers you may not have seen for years.
After thorough cleaning the pavers will be rinsed until all soap and dirty wate is removed.
Our cleaning equipment will remove the top 1/4 to 1/2 inch of black joint sand. The next stip is to apply new clean sand between the pavers. This process is done with a special nozzle to move the sand quickly and with no dust. The water carries the sand into every joint.
After the final rinse the sealer is applied in at least two steps. The first step is to apply a flood coat of sealer which deeple penetrates the paver and the joint sand. This holds the new sand in place and greately reduces weed growth between pavers.
Then a top coat is applied to seal and protect the pavers from damaging UV rays and stains. Our sealer also contains anti fungal and bacterial properties. A third or more coats may be applied if you want a high gloss finish.
The finished product has restored colors which you may have thought were gone forever! The UV inhibitors will protect the color from fading and mold and algea growth will not penetrate the pavers.
Maintenance now consists of using a hose or broom to remove surface dirt. A light cleaning and another top coat should be applied in two to three years depending on the amount of use the surface gets.
Clean on Left, Before on Right
Damaged Paver Requires Stripping
Stripping Old Sealer or Painted Surface It is sometimes necessary to strip a solvent based sealer from pavers or stamped concrete. Solvent based sealers will yellow, crack, and peal over time. Sometimes we find pavers or concrete that has been painted and this will always peal in a short period of time leaving an unkept appearance.
Chemical stripping creates a very toxic slurry that should not be washed into grass, landscapes, or drainage systems.
A much better alternative is to sand blast the sealer or paint off the surface. This is a cheaper and much more environmentally responsible method of removing the old surface.
Beautiful surface is revealed
Large surfaces can be sandblasted faster than chemical stripping.
Large areas can be stripped with sandblasting equipment in less time than chemical stripping. This process completely removes all surface treatments and provides a nice even surface to finish.
After the sanding is completed and the sand is blown off, our surface cleaning equipment is used to remove any remaining sand and debris. The surface can then be sealed with our water based sealer just like any other paver or surface.
The sealer will bind to the prepared surface to form a beautiful protective barrier that will last for years.
